About the Position

To monitor, develop and update behavioral services and plans for Education individuals. To provide ongoing support and training to staff for behavioral needs.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Education Director to help support daily needs of the students in the education program.
  • Prompt arrival for adequate preparation of daily activities.
  • Work directly with staff and individuals to implement Behavior Support Plans during active treatment hours as appropriate.
  • Observe and monitor staff to ensure Behavior Support Plans are being implemented correctly.
  • Model correct strategies and approaches to staff. In-service staff on Behavior Support Plans, levels of supervision, and protocols.
  • Train staff in behavioral principles and techniques.
  • Contact parents/guardians as necessary with behavioral concerns.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain Behavior Support Plans with Treatment Team (direct-care staff, related services, staff, program director, Behavior Review Committee) input; ensure that programs are current. Ensure that the restrictive tracking sheet is updated on a regular basis.
  • Complete FBAs (Functional Behavioral Assessment reports) for Education students per the SED Behavior Plan Process.
  • Assist in implementing programs in community settings in situations of potential maladaptive behaviors/crises.
  • Be available for and assist with situations involving aggressive/maladaptive behavior according to staff and individuals’ needs.
  • Be a certified instructor of Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention – Revised (SCIP-R) and supervise staff implementation of SCIP-R physical interventions.
  • Be a certified instructor of Ukeru and supervise staff implementation of Ukeru techniques.
  • Interface with Training Director to coordinate the teaching of initial and re-certification SCIP-R and Ukeru trainings. In addition, instructors will be expected to conduct the department specified number of trainings per quarter.
  • Review Behavior Monitoring Record (BMR) and trend and summarize if need be. Ensure that staff is thorough in their documentation of incidents
  • Assist in providing written/verbal information to the psychiatrist regarding individuals’ progress with staff input.
  • Attend individual review meetings as necessary.
  • Attend Behavior Review Committee meetings. Present plans at Human Rights Committee as needed; as well as data for the Risk Management Committee.
  • Coordinate comprehensive planning team meetings – Invite all members of the person’s support team, including but not limited to family members, direct support staff, clinical staff members (i.e., Positive Support Professionals, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, LPN/RN), and relevant administrative staff.
  • Ensure completion of all behavioral documentation.
  • Responsible for being on time to every scheduled work shift and recording hours worked accurately via Paylocity or timeclock punches.
  • Responsible for ensuring that confidentiality is strictly maintained as required by law and Agency policy.
  • Responsible for securing and protecting personal and agency related data by adhering to the Agency’s computer security policies.
