Impact as In-Home Respite

Provide in-home or community-based relief services to families of individuals with developmental disabilities. Support person-centered care, promote independence, and offer opportunities for community involvement in inclusive settings whenever possible.

The schedule is flexible: you set up your own hours with the family, mostly late afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. This is a per diem job and is 3‑20 hours per week. You choose how little or how much you want to work.

  • Ensure that individuals are offered person centered programming and are supported in making their own decisions to the greatest extent possible
  • Ensure that individuals participate in their community to the greatest extent possible in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs
  • Provides respite services to the families/caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Submits all daily/weekly/monthly paperwork by specified deadlines
  • Achieves minimum caseload and service delivery requirements as directed by the Program Coordinator, Supervisor of Community Services
  • Complies with agency Incident Reporting Policies and Procedures
  • Safely transport individuals receiving services to and from community sites/program locations
  • When providing Intensive In-Home Respite, accurately records and submits behavioral data in a timely manner to program Behavioral Consultant and participates in additional training as required
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of six months combined work, volunteer, internship experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • Valid NYS driver's license
