Job Description - Database Administrator (Cloud Data Platforms)

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and support Snowflake and Databricks environments that underpin the Teradata migration program. You will be responsible for administration, automation, performance, and reliability of the cloud data platforms.

• Deploy, configure, and administer Snowflake and Databricks environments on Azure.
• Implement and manage security, access controls, and role‑based permissions in line with bank standards.
• Use Terraform, Ansible, and other automation tools to manage infrastructure‑as‑code and platform provisioning.
• Monitor platform health, tune performance, and optimize query and workload execution.
• Administer resource usage, warehouses/clusters, and scaling policies for cost and performance.
• Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
• Automate operational tasks and create runbooks for common procedures.
• Support Teradata migration activities, including data validation, reconciliation, and cutover operations.
• Ensure compliance with financial services regulations, security policies, and audit requirements.
• Provide on‑call and extended‑hours support during key migration and release windows.

• 7-10 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with at least 3+ years on cloud data platforms.
• Hands‑on administration of Snowflake and Databricks environments.
• Strong experience with Terraform and Ansible for automation and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Solid Linux/Unix system administration background.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for scripting and operational automation.
• Experience on Azure‑based data and compute services.
• Familiarity with CDC, streaming, and supporting medallion‑style data architectures.
• Exposure to cost management and optimization of cloud data platforms.
• Experience working in regulated environments with strong security and compliance requirements.

• Direct experience supporting Teradata migrations to Snowflake/Databricks.
• Experience with additional automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Dev Ops).
• Knowledge of containerization/Kubernetes for related platform components.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Operational excellence and strong attention to detail.
• Troubleshooting mindset with ability to quickly diagnose and resolve platform issues.
• Strong documentation habits and runbook creation.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, and operations teams.
