We are currently seeking a Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer to join our team in Buffalo, New York (US-NY), United States (US).
This is a hybrid role. Candidates must live in or have a commutable distance from Buffalo, New York.
A Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer has technical, domain level and specialist skills to ensure that all the engineering services are operated, maintained and constantly upgraded as technology advances. The role may involve multiple functions within the job, covering programming, support, environmental maintenance, analysis, and design of functional/technical solutions.
Key responsibilities include overseeing deployment, planning, configuration, and testing of CICS services within the IBM mainframe environment.
Responsibilities- Install, administer, and maintain CICS systems software and resource definitions.
- Support and maintain CICS production, including out‑of‑hours troubleshooting.
- Provide technical assistance to developers and application support teams.
- Design and develop new hardware and software technology solutions.
- Lead and direct problem investigation and recovery in complex situations.
- Install and test new versions of CICS.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for applications that use CICS.
- Establish user needs and monitor user access and security.
- Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front‑end users.
- Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.
- Ensure storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
- Ensure provision for data security and recovery control so that all data is retrievable in an emergency.
- 10+ years of experience as a CICS System Programmer or Technical Specialist.
- 10+ years of proven knowledge of a combination of the following products: CICS Transaction Server 4.2 and/or 5.3, SMP/E, Omegamon/CICS, ACF2, and RACF.
- A flexible and adaptable management style with experience in developing yourself and others.
- A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering long‑term risks and implications.
- Mainframe SYSPlex environment experience.
Starting pay range for this hybrid role is $106,575–$142,100 in the New York City area. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position based on location, experience, and skills. The position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and company performance.
