Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, Paralegal
Payrate: $20.00 - $22.42/hr.
SummaryUnder direct supervision of Assigned Management, this position provides professional legal support service to attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities include litigation support, basic legal research, drafting legal and business communications and documents, supporting regulatory action, general file management, and record retention. The role involves coordination and oversight of legal matters and responding to internal and external inquiries regarding pertinent issues.
Responsibilities- Responsible for intake, tracking, monitoring status, and reporting of legal matters assigned to or through the Corporate Legal Department.
- Reviews and understands legal issues assigned to or through the Corporate Legal Department and analyzes appropriate legal actions to be taken.
- Serves as liaison and contact with business owners for internal legal assignments, managing expectations regarding delivery times, and overseeing timely completion of legal assignments.
- Assists in litigation matters, including updating litigation log and database, document preparation, and responding to document production requests.
- Assists in administration of legal department software and databases, including management of design, coordination of enhancements, and maintenance of system functionality.
- Communicates with attorneys and other external parties to answer questions and gather pertinent information.
- Researches, compiles, and prepares legal documents for review, approval, and use by Corporate Legal attorneys.
- Establishes and maintains requisite legal files consisting of correspondence, pleadings, legal documents, and background materials.
- Assists in designing and administering Corporate Legal Department website, managing all content and functionality.
- Participates in developing metrics and reports to measure department performance against goals and scorecards.
- Maintains a regular presence in various regional offices, as directed by Corporate Legal.
- Minimum requirements are an Associate's degree in a relevant field or paralegal certification with a minimum of two years of paralegal experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong analytical ability, organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, work independently, and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and capable of establishing effective working relationships.
- Keeps abreast of developments germane to the function through seminars, workshops, publication reviews, and independent study.
- Competency in word processing and expertise with PCs, with proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with IBM Notes, enterprise-level contract management software solutions, and proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to quickly master new software applications.
- Willingness to participate in off-site investigations and/or travel as requested.
The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is:$20.00 - $22.42/hr. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience.
