Goldberg Segalla LLP, a national law firm with more than 23 offices in 11 states, has an immediate opportunity for a Professional Development Specialist in its Buffalo office.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Professional Development Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting attorney professional development by managing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) compliance, attorney registrations and firm accounts related to licensing. This role also ensures attorneys stay compliant with CLE requirements and jurisdictional regulations while maintaining the firm’s legal standing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinate and conduct attorney onboarding and orientation, including bar admissions and CLE compliance, and provide ongoing training to attorneys and staff as needed.
  • Coordinate 24/7 online CLE provider relationship and integration with internal tracking database.
  • Manage the Professional Development intranet page.
  • Serve as an internal expert on MCLE rules and regulations and remain current on regulation updates in all jurisdictions.
  • Review and approve attorney mandatory expenses, including mandatory registrations, CLE programs and required professional membership dues.
  • Maintain and update attorney records in LMS and tracking CLE compliance.
  • Respond to attorney inquiries regarding CLE compliance requirements and deadlines.
  • Send timely reminders about upcoming CLE and registration due dates to attorneys.
  • Oversee the CLE course approval process with third party vendors ensuring compliance with firm and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Communicate any new CLE rule changes to attorneys and provide guidance on compliance.
  • Manage and update attorney registrations in Law Base to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Process bulk payments for attorney registrations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversee and update the firm’s IOLTA account across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Administer and manage the firm’s PLI account, ensuring attorneys have access to CLE courses.
  • Maintain and update documents in iManage, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Organize and track attorney compliance documentation for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare reports for auditing and compliance purposes, ensuring accuracy.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree required or 2 years of administrative experience in a professional services environment.
  • Regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in English.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and proactive communication to ensure attorneys remain compliant with evolving jurisdictional requirements.
  • Regularly required to observe and assess data and documents, in printed form and on computer screens.
  • May be requested to work beyond normal work hours and weekends for special projects.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to respond to internal or external inquiries, including those of a sensitive, confidential or adversarial nature.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Experience with viLMS preferred.
  • Proficiency in iManage, Law Base and other CLE tracking systems.
  • Strong strategic planning, and an in-depth understanding of attorney compliance and professional growth needs.
  • Proactive at staying updated with regulatory changes.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Benefits

The salary range for this position is $45,000- $55,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also offers bonuses, and a full benefits package.
