Goldberg Segalla LLP, a national law firm with more than 23 offices in 11 states, has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Professional Development Specialist in its Buffalo office.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position ensures compliance with Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements and jurisdictional regulations, oversees attorney registration, managing key firm accounts and continuously seeking opportunities to enhance attorney education through programming and resources.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Identify and implement new programming opportunities to support attorney development, such as internal training, workshops and partnerships with third-party providers.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to expand professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure smooth execution of CLE compliance, tracking and reporting for attorneys and their registration processes.
  • Ensure attorneys receive timely reminders regarding CLE deadlines and registration renewals.
  • Manage the firm's attorney registration processes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversee bulk payment processing for attorney registrations.
  • Monitor jurisdictional CLE changes and communicate updates to attorneys.
  • Maintain and update all applicable tracking systems (Learning Management System, Law Base, etc.).
  • Review and approve CLE course requests with third-party vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdictional registration requirements.
  • Maintain the firm’s IOLTA account across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain the firm’s PLI account, ensuring attorneys have access to the required CLE courses.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for vendor management, including coordinating with external providers for training programs, CLE courses and professional development resources.
  • Oversee compliance documentation in iManage, ensuring records are up to date and organized.
  • Assist in the facilitation of team meetings on department related topics.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the team and troubleshoot escalations.
  • Actively coach other team members to maintain and enhance knowledge, skills and abilities. This includes training new staff.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree required or 3-5 years of administrative experience in a professional services environment.
  • Regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in English.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive communication to ensure attorneys remain compliant with evolving jurisdictional requirements.
  • Regularly required to observe and assess data and documents, in printed form and on computer screens.
  • May be requested to work beyond normal work hours and weekends for special projects.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidence.
  • Ability to respond to internal or external inquiries, including those of a sensitive, confidential or adversarial nature.
  • Strong understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Experience with viLMS preferred.
  • Proficiency in iManage, Law Base and other CLE tracking systems.
  • Strong strategic planning, and an in-depth understanding of attorney compliance and professional growth needs.
  • Proactive in researching career development strategies for attorneys.
Benefits

The salary range for this position is $55,000- $65,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also offers bonuses, and a full benefits package.
