Fulfillment Planner Internship
Seeking a college student for an internship pursuing a degree in supply chain or a related field.
Purpose statementThe Fulfillment Planner coordinates the movement of inventory throughout the distribution network to fulfill customer demand. The fulfillment planner executes deployment strategy, identifies and implements distribution optimization opportunities, and ensures trucks are fully utilized. This role supports the monthly DC process where the planner outlines and reports on transportation lane requirements and space required at each warehouse.
Key responsibilities and outcomes- Develop and execute deployment strategy based on current demand and production plans at the SKU location level.
- Plan, create, change, and complete purchase orders within SAP; leverage Blue Yonder for creation of Stock Transfer Orders.
- Manage warehouse space by projecting downstream requirements and monitoring daily the 14‑day outlooks to ensure no gridlock issues; respond to capacity or service concerns.
- Prioritize inbound shipments when there are inbound/outbound capacity constraints.
- Manage potential inventory shortage reports; take action to reduce shortages for customers.
- Communicate customer shortages to Customer Service Representatives where appropriate.
- Communicate significant inventory shortages to Supply Planners and/or Sales Channel Service Managers.
- Report on inventory health and SKUs over/under safety stock targets.
- Update weekly reason codes for cutting in dashboards.
- Maximize freight utilization for Stock Transfer Orders.
- Manage DC‑to‑DC inventory transfers through the C‑item deployment process.
- Track and develop improvement plans to reduce unplanned shortages.
- Analyze and review inventory to minimize spoilage.
- Develop actionable plans to improve customer order fill rate.
- Ensure past‑due and mismatch reports are updated timely so SAP accurately reflects inventory.
- Customer Service, Manufacturing Operations & Shipping, 3rd party transportation & distribution providers, Marketing, International Logistics, Contract Manufacturing, Procurement.
Must be pursuing a college degree in supply chain or a related field.
- Completed or near completing a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of logistical planning experience preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, and customer service.
- APICS certification or matriculation toward certification preferred.
- Strong statistical and spreadsheet analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic financial analysis.
- Strong written and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Power Bi, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with SAP, Blue Yonder, or related systems.
Annual range/h hourly rate: $17.00 – $32.00 hourly.
