Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager is responsible for buying and logistically coordinating all materials for Plant Production and shipping needs.
This person monitors and understands the overall company forecast and plant production plan and translates into optimal buying and timing of material inflow from the supply chain.
This individual’s goal is zero plant downtime due to material outage – and crafts multi-faceted plans and procedures to ensure such outages do not occur.
This position is critical to the company in minimizing Material component of COGS while selecting material and suppliers (in conjunction with the Headof Plant Operations , Director of Operations, and Sourcing) that meet company quality specifications and initiatives.
- Create, modify, and maintain purchase orders to support the planning and manufacturing functions with accurate estimated delivery dates for all purchased raw materials.
- Manage raw material inventory for all internal production – ensure uninterrupted flow of materials to meet level loaded Production Plan as supplied by Production Planning.
- Collaborate with Warehouse Manager to ensure volume of materials works within space limitations and ensure vendors conform to all shipping and labeling requirements.
- Weekly reporting on material status and availability to Production Planning, Warehouse, and Manufacturing teams.
- Audit suppliers and track non-conformance as part of the supplier score carding process.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely receipt of all goods at the correct cost.
- Perform regular cycle counts on key materials and maintain accurate inventory in ERP system. Regular visual inspection of raw materials and production is required.
- Serve as subject matter expert and supervisory member of our annual physical inventory team.
- Craft inventory or purchasing solutions within the supply chain to minimize risk of outages.
- Coordinate inbound logistics involving FTL, LTL, air, rail, and ocean.
Select carriers and negotiate freight costs. - Promote ERP functionality and be an expert user of the system, utilizing it to efficiently and accurately manage the costs and storage of all products in the Buffalo Games supply chain.
It is expected this position leverages the ERP system to help simplify and automate lower level purchasing tasks, setup or processes within ERP system to best meet primary responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s required in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain
- Ability to think strategically for company and simultaneously manage day-to-day efforts in a fast-paced environment
- Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively deliver plans and messages across departments and up-channel
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- 2-4 years’ experience purchasing and working knowledge of ERP systems related to Methods, BOM’s
- Passion for toys, games, and puzzles with a customer-centric mindset.
- Professional certification by APICS, NAPM or ISM is a plus
- Excellent PC skills, including a high degree of Excel functionality
- Salary starting at $62,500 depending on experience
