Position: Housekeeping Attendant LTC - FT - Day Shift
HOURLY RANGE: $18.44 - $23.78

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The work involves performing a variety of cleaning duties at the Long-Term Care Facility of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent performs a variety of cleaning and sanitary duties in assigned offices and general areas of the building. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher ranking supervisory employee. Supervision is not a function of this position.

Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK

ACTIVITIES:

* Vacuums, sweeps, mops and buffs corridors, stairs, stairwells, walls, furniture and equipment;

* Uses extension pole, ladder and scaffolds while cleaning walls, washing light fixtures, changing drapes or other activities;

* Shampoos and changes rugs when necessary;

* Cleans resident rooms when assigned requiring a high degree of cleanliness to minimize possible spread of infection;

* Gathers and disposes refuse as directed;

* Cleans public and resident-use bathrooms, scouring sinks, wet mopping floors, disinfecting toilet bowl, wiping down all surfaces and replenishing necessary supplies;

* Moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning tasks;

* Maintains supply rooms for housekeeping throughout the building;

* Uses a variety of manual and mechanical equipment.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Working knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances; ability to understand and follow verbal and simple written instructions; ability to communicate in a cheerful and tactful manner; dependability; thoroughness; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

There are no education or experience requirements. Applicants must be able to perform light to moderately heavy physical labor and read and understand the English language.
