Director Of Accounting & Shared Services

Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting & Shared Services to lead a multi-location shared services organization of over 100 employees and seven direct reports. This is a highly visible role for a strategic finance and accounting leader with a strong track record of transformation. In addition to overseeing core accounting and shared services functions, this individual will modernize operations through process automation, digitalization, systems improvement, and organizational change.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with the ability to lead complex transformation initiatives and partner across Finance, Tax, Operations, IT, and other business functions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing a multi-location shared services organization of approximately 150 employees.
• Providing strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to develop leaders and foster a high-performance culture.
• Overseeing general ledger, payroll, benefits accounting, customer financial services, collections, cash applications, and regional accounting.
• Leading finance transformation initiatives that modernize processes, improve service delivery, and create scalable operations.
• Driving automation and digitalization initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce risk, and enhance scalability.
• Leading organizational change associated with new technologies, processes, capabilities, and ways of working.
• Partnering across Finance, Tax, Operations, IT, and business units to execute complex transformation programs.
• Ensuring compliance with SOX, tax requirements, internal controls, and audit standards.
• Establishing KPIs and operational metrics to promote accountability and continuous improvement.
• Standardizing processes and ensuring clear documentation of procedures, roles, responsibilities, and controls.

Minimum requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, shared services, or related business functions.
• Strong finance and accounting foundation, including accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and close processes.
• Proven experience leading large-scale finance transformation or organizational improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated success with process automation, digitalization, and/or finance technology initiatives.
• Experience leading organizational change associated with new technologies and ways of working.
• Proven leadership of large, multi-functional teams within a complex, matrixed organization.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

This is more than a traditional accounting or shared services leadership role. Our client is seeking a strategic finance leader who can help modernize and transform accounting and shared services operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of how finance operates through technology, automation, process improvement, and organizational change while leading a significant organization.

Salary: $175,000 - $240,000 commensurate with experience
