About Select One:

Select One is a strategic recruitment firm partnering with organisations to identify and secure top talent across finance, accounting, HR, IT, operations, engineering, and other critical business functions. We connect our clients with professionals who can make an immediate and lasting impact.

About the Company Hiring:

Our client is a global industry leader with a significant presence across North America and international markets. The organisation serves diverse industries and is known for operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

About the Job:

Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting Operations to lead a multi‑location shared services organisation of over 100 employees and seven direct reports. This is a highly visible role for a strategic finance and accounting leader with a strong track record of transformation. In addition to overseeing core accounting and shared services functions, this individual will modernise operations through process automation, digitalisation, systems improvement, and organisational change.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with the ability to lead complex transformation initiatives and partner across Finance, Tax, Operations, IT, and other business functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a multi‑location shared services organisation of approximately 150 employees.
  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to develop leaders and foster a high‑performance culture.
  • Oversee general ledger, payroll, benefits accounting, customer financial services, collections, cash applications, and regional accounting.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives that modernise processes, improve service delivery, and create scalable operations.
  • Drive automation and digitalisation initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce risk, and enhance scalability.
  • Lead organisational change associated with new technologies, processes, capabilities, and ways of working.
  • Partner across Finance, Tax, Operations, IT, and business units to execute complex transformation programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, tax requirements, internal controls, and audit standards.
  • Establish KPIs and operational metrics to promote accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Standardise processes and ensure clear documentation of procedures, roles, responsibilities, and controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, shared services, or related business functions.
  • Strong finance and accounting foundation, including accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and close processes.
  • Proven experience leading large‑scale finance transformation or organisational improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success with process automation, digitalisation, and/or finance technology initiatives.
  • Experience leading organisational change associated with new technologies and ways of working.
  • Proven leadership of large, multi‑functional teams within a complex, matrixed organisation.
  • Strong cross‑functional collaboration, communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
What Makes This Opportunity Unique:

This is more than a traditional accounting or shared services leadership role. Our client is seeking a strategic finance leader who can help modernise and transform accounting and shared services operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of how finance operates through technology, automation, process improvement, and organisational change while leading a significant organisation.

Salary:

$175,000 - $230,000 commensurate with experience
