Lead Operator
The Lead Operator supports the manufacturing lines for ceramic fiber production by setting up, operating, and controlling process‑related equipment. The role ensures safety, quality, and productivity standards are met while providing leadership to line operators. The position reports directly to the Shift Advisor and follows instruction from Process Engineers.
Responsibilities- Meet daily KPI’s for safety, quality, and production rate.
- Follow written work instructions to set up, operate, and control equipment.
- Complete hourly and daily process checks and record in‑process parameters.
- Monitor product specifications to ensure desired quality.
- Prepare production and quality reports.
- Perform quality checks per QA work instruction.
- Handle material tasks including finished goods packaging, shipping/receiving, and raw material storage.
- Make minor process equipment adjustments to improve product quality.
- Troubleshoot equipment, process, and quality issues assisting maintenance and engineering.
- Conduct minor equipment repairs and mechanical adjustments.
- Work well individually and in group settings with all levels of plant staff.
- Disassemble, assemble, and clean equipment as required.
- Assist advisors in leading and directing line operators.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workplace (5S and Six Sigma knowledge desired).
- Train operators per work instruction according to company policies.
- Provide relief for other areas of production as needed.
- Comply with all federal, state, local, and company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain Alkegen’s highest safety standards, identifying and correcting unsafe conditions or acts.
- Champion safety in the workplace each day.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or other post‑high‑school training preferred.
- Prior chemical operator experience desirable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Ability to learn and access information through computer databases.
- Ability to read and interpret simple gauges.
- Follow work instructions and provide feedback for improvements.
- Work a 12‑hour, continuous shift schedule (4 days on–4 days off with rotating day/night shifts).
- Lift up to 50 lbs., and bend, stoop, lift, squat, walk, and stand for up to 12 hours.
- Experience with tools and equipment such as forklift, computer, wet scrubber, furnaces, small hand tools, tape gun, stretch wrapper, and power washer.
$31.45 per hour. Pay may vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience. Total compensation may include additional benefits, details of which will be provided upon offer.
