Location and Compensation
Buffalo, NY. Salary Range: $60,000 – $88,000 (compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location).
Role OverviewAs a Manufacturing Planner, you will develop and execute machine capacity and production plans to support operational performance and customer demand, ensuring optimal utilization of machines and labor, proactively identifying constraints, and aligning cross‑functional activities to maintain efficient, uninterrupted production.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain machining allocation and capacity plans based on demand forecasts.
- Analyze machine and labor capacity to establish short‑ and long‑term production plans.
- Create and manage detailed production schedules to optimize throughput and minimize downtime, including change‑over considerations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (production, engineering, maintenance) to align schedules with operational priorities.
- Lead weekly planning cycles and communicate production plans to cell leaders.
- Drive schedule adjustments to support new product introductions, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational changes.
- Monitor and report key manufacturing KPIs (Quality, Delivery, Cost) and address underperformance.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance planning with maintenance teams to minimize disruption to production schedules.
- Manage safety stock levels and support Kanban optimization, including bin resizing activities.
- Lead initiatives to improve flow, flexibility, and efficiency (e.g., swap‑out reduction, 3F principles: Fast, Flexible, Flow).
- High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Strong analytical capability, including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Solid understanding of machining processes and CNC operations.
- Ability to analyze and calculate machine and labor efficiency.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with SAP and Kinaxis or similar planning tools.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience in capacity planning, production scheduling, or operations planning.
- Authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
Desk‑based engineering tasks, on‑site inspections, and interaction with manufacturing processes. Requires moderate physical activity, seated work (40‑50% of time), manual dexterity, and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Exposure to moderate noise and potential hazards; protective equipment may be required.
