The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-performance copper and copper-alloy materials in Buffalo, NY
, supporting a wide range of industries including automotive, electronics, and energy. The organization operates advanced production facilities that manufacture strips, sheet, and other semi-finished metal products used in electrical components, heat exchangers, and industrial applications. Known for its focus on innovation and sustainable manufacturing, the company partners with customers to deliver reliable materials that support modern infrastructure and emerging technologies.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving mechanical systems and equipment used in manufacturing operations. You will analyze production processes, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement engineering solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety. Additionally, you will collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support equipment upgrades, preventative maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Engineer and design modifications to existing equipment to improve production and reduce maintenance costs.
• Direct and coordinate major overhauls and rebuilds to improve quality and yield. Maintain minimum downtime and production delays.
• Communicate and coordinate equipment maintenance requirements and activities with the maintenance department regarding manpower and downtime requirements, acquiring input from equipment operators and maintenance staff.
• Oversee preventive maintenance activities, such as long‑range planning to ensure maximum production and utilization of production equipment.
• Coordinate with contractors on design and implementation of new equipment regarding required maintenance and replacement parts to ensure optimal utilization and longevity of equipment.
• Maintain equipment to comply with local, state and federal government and insurance company regulations.
• Direct and coordinate bargaining unit employees as required. Promote safe and healthy workplace. Ensure optimal labor relations by adhering to the contract and Company policies. Maintain good housekeeping and organization within the department.

• Participate in continuous improvement of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, 9001, IATF 16949 programs and procedures through active participation in the near‑miss program.
• Handles containerizing and labeling universal wastes including batteries and lamps, as well as spent aerosol cans (HW).
