Position: Sr. Assembly & Test Technician  (Edwards Vacuum)

Senior A&T Technician

The primary mission of the Senior A&T Technician is to support various work centers, including electronics, pump module assembly, system assembly & test, and final assembly, to ensure seamless production flow and high-quality output. The A&T Technician will primarily build and assemble modules, cables and dry pumps using engineered drawings and documented requirements. The Senior A&T Technician is required to meet the build standard as defined in the assembly and test procedures and maintain a continuous throughput in their area of responsibility.

In addition, the Sr. Assembly & Test Technician will train and mentor technicians as required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assemble and test modules, cables and dry pumps in line with the daily production plan – focusing on quality and output targets.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Follows assembly and test instructions and procedures to meet output quality requirements.
  • Support the training of team members and collaborate to drive improvement and efficiency.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with department colleagues and the supporting departments.
  • Communicate and seek guidance where there are errors or difficulty in build.
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the assembly meets quality standards.
  • Train and mentor other technicians as required.

High School diploma or equivalent / associated experience. Knowledge and experience of the principles of mechanical component constructions and assembly and test. Dependent on assigned area. Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and diagrams. Experience with hand tools and small power tools, including pneumatic. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Minimum 2 years experience of assembly & test in a manufacturing setting.

This role requires precision handling of tools and machinery, often in a manufacturing setting.

• Hand and Finger Use/Dexterity:
Uses hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls continually or almost continually (89% of the time), with arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, and manual dexterity for precise manipulation and assembly.

• Standing/Walking:
Remains in an upright stationary position continually or almost continually (62% of the time), with occasional traversing to position materials or equipment.

• Moving Objects/Lifting/Carrying:
Frequently moves, transports, positions, or installs materials and tools, involving general physical activities like balancing or stooping; requires multilimb coordination but no specific weight levels detailed.

• Bending/Twisting/Reaching:
Positions self by bending or twisting the body less than half the time (31%), with moderate flexibility needs.

• Repetitive Motions:
Performs repetitive actions continually or almost continually (46% of the time), demanding sustained control of machines.

• Other Environmental Factors:
Exposed to hazardous equipment, contaminants, noise, or minor injury risks daily (43-62% of the time); wears protective equipment (e.g., glasses, hearing protection) every day (94% of the time).
