Position Summary

API Heat Transfer is seeking a highly organized and results-driven Production Planner / Scheduler to support our STG business unit. This position is responsible for contract scheduling, issuing work orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, monitoring contract progress, reviewing raw material requirements, managing sales order commitments, resolving MRP exceptions, and handling customer expedites. This position is full time in office setting.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong planning and communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can effectively balance customer demands with production capacity.

Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Collaborate with Production Supervisors to schedule and maintain a consistent flow of work through production, maximizing throughput and on-time delivery performance.
  • Issue and manage work orders based on material availability, labor resources, and plant capacity.
  • Review and manage production schedules to align manufacturing activities with customer requirements.
  • Monitor contract progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet delivery commitments.
Inventory & Material Management
  • Review daily shortage reports and coordinate corrective actions to ensure material availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels and perform necessary work order transactions to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Review raw material requirements and support timely procurement activities.
  • Assist with physical inventory activities and cycle counting initiatives.
MRP & Order Management
  • Review and resolve MRP exceptions by expediting, de-expediting, or adjusting work orders as required.
  • Review and promise sales orders based on production and material capacity.
  • Handle customer expedite requests and coordinate cross-functional efforts to meet critical deadlines.
Communication & Team Support
  • Communicate inventory, scheduling, and technical issues to Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations teams.
  • Support department management by communicating departmental objectives, performance metrics, and results.
  • Serve as backup support for the Small Coolers Bay Supervisor by assisting with daily operational oversight when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Technical Studies, or a related field; equivalent experience and training will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning and inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing an MRP system.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, order flow, and production scheduling.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
