Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor leads a team of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this role provides day-to-day leadership and technical direction to drive process improvement, operational performance, and engineering excellence. The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who develops talent, fosters accountability, removes barriers, and ensures improvement initiatives deliver measurable, sustainable results.

Essential

Functions Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Establish clear priorities, expectations, performance standards, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting, and career development discussions.
  • Build team capability through individual development plans, cross-training, and expanded technical responsibilities.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, data-driven decision making, and proactive problem solving.
Manufacturing Performance & Process Excellence
  • Own Manufacturing Engineering performance against key KPIs, including scrap, yield, OEE, downtime, process capability, and productivity.
  • Partner with Operations to align engineering priorities with production requirements and business objectives.
  • Lead efforts to stabilize processes, improve process capability, and establish repeatable, controlled manufacturing methods.
  • Drive regular performance reviews to identify losses, prioritize improvements, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure standard work is developed, trained, followed, and sustained while establishing clear process ownership and accountability.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve process failures, recurring defects, scrap, yield losses, downtime, and other manufacturing challenges.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute continuous improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Analyze process variation, identify bottlenecks and constraints, and implement solutions to improve throughput, capacity, and consistency.
  • Support equipment, tooling, fixture, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining safety, quality, and product performance.
Leadership & Execution
  • Lead through the team by developing engineers to independently identify, solve, and prevent manufacturing problems.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor to understand conditions, coach employees, and support execution.
  • Use data to prioritize issues, balance short-term production needs with long-term improvements, and drive issues to closure.
  • Communicate priorities, risks, resource needs, and technical issues effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Escalate significant performance risks, resource constraints, and unresolved issues as appropriate.
  • Model and promote the company's core values of integrity, commitment, innovation, customer focus, and teamwork.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering or related manufacturing experience with progressive technical responsibility.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, including supervising, mentoring, or leading engineers or other technical professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, standard work, 5S, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex manufacturing challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven communication, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Experience in a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Knowledge of thermocouples, RTDs, sensors, MIMS (Mineral Insulated Metal Sheath) cable, aerospace products, or similar engineered products preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification and/or demonstrated success leading continuous improvement initiatives desired.
  • Experience applying statistical analysis, process capability studies, and data-driven decision-making to improve manufacturing performance preferred.

Salary ranges for this position vary by job location and are determined based on experience, reflecting our commitment to recognizing individual expertise and contributions.

Successful Candidate must be able to meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) to gain access to technical data. This position requires access to technology that is subject to U.S. export control regulations. Candidates must be eligible for employment in the US and meet the requirements of ITAR.
