Our headquarters and main manufacturing facility is located York, PA, with additional operations in Bristol, PA, Buffalo, NY, Lakeville, MN, and Aurora, Ontario.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and exceptionally organized Hands-On Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in Buffalo, NY. This is a full-time, hands-on supervisory role. The teammate will spend significant time on the production floor working alongside your team, directly diagnosing faults, and driving asset reliability for our high-speed, wide-web flexographic printing presses, converting machinery, and our Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO).
The ideal candidate must possess master-level mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills—specifically with automated control systems (Siemens & Allen-Bradley PLCs, Rexroth & Emerson Servo Drives). Prior experience in a Flexible Packaging Manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. We require a leader who balances a strong organizational mindset with the advanced technical ability to turn a wrench, troubleshoot complex system failures in real time, and closely collaborate with and assist the Plant Engineer in maintaining flawless record-keeping for seamless oversight by third-party auditors, state agencies, and federal agencies.
Job Functions & Supervisory, Managerial and Leadership Responsibilities Regulatory Support & Engineering Alignment
- Directly assist the Plant Engineer in compiling, tracking, and maintaining comprehensive facility records required for rigorous inspections and audits.
- Ensure constant readiness for agency oversight, organizing documentation to satisfy federal and state regulators (OSHA, EPA, NYSDOL, NYSDEC) as well as commercial inspectors.
- Manage OSHA & NYSDOL workplace safety compliance tracking, archiving completed Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Hot Work permits, Confined Space entry logs, arc flash safety records, and employee safety training documentation.
- Oversee EPA & NYSDEC environmental compliance logging, systematically recording parameter data for the RTO to ensure constant VOC destruction efficiency and air permit compliance.
- Coordinate audit-ready maintenance files, ensuring all vendor service sheets, contractor safety certifications, and hazardous waste disposal manifests are up-to-date and organized.
- Lead by example on the plant floor, spending a majority of the shift actively executing repairs, tracking down elusive faults, and providing immediate technical backup to technicians.
- Serve as the primary technical point of escalation for complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures.
- Supervise, schedule, and delegate tasks to a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring labor resources are optimized across continuous manufacturing operations.
- Cultivate a culture of rapid, precise diagnostics to systematically reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and safely get high-volume machinery back online.
- Champion a highly structured PM culture, utilizing strong organizational skills to shift the facility from a reactive mindset to a rigorously planned, predictive maintenance model.
- Organize and optimize the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to accurately track asset history, analyze breakdown root causes, and schedule regular machine overhauls.
- Maintain continuous audit readiness for all facility maintenance practices in alignment with GFSI benchmarks (e.g., SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000 packaging standards).
- Strictly enforce food safety protocols within the maintenance department, including the correct usage and logging of food-grade lubricants, tool control accountability, and proper clean-up procedures.
