Come work in our downtown office with free, onsite parking. This is a full-time, 40 hour week that includes a ½ hour paid lunch.
This position provides on‑going monitoring, information and assistance to program staff to ensure maximum benefits are received by individuals living in Agency IRAs and shelters. Provides consultation and direction to program staff on entitlement programs and internal Agency process based upon thorough and up‑to‑date understanding of SSI/SSD, Medicaid, SNAP, HEAP, etc.
Responsibilities- Acts as the primary resource providing ongoing consultation and direction to program staff on entitlement programs based upon thorough and up‑to‑date understanding of SSI/DDS, Medicaid, SNAP, HEAP, etc.
- Regularly trains program staff on the application and appeals process for entitlement program, as well as any changes to internal or external related systems.
- Provides on‑going monitoring and assistance to program staff to ensure maximum benefits are received by individuals living in Agency IRAs and shelters.
- Reviews the roster of Unbilled Services and Aged Billing from the Accounts Receivable Specialist on a monthly basis and works with program staff to ensure that programmatic actions taken are thorough, appropriate and makes recommendations to ensure that all benefit options have been exhausted.
- Receives and distributes Medicaid recertification and expiration reports. Ensures follow‑up is completed by responsible staff to ultimately eliminate a lapse of benefits.
- Acts as the Liaison between program staff and Business Office staff to ensure that all parties are actively monitoring and pursuing individuals’ benefits throughout various stages and status.
- Conducts reviews of IRA and Shelter individuals’ benefits and develops programmatic plan to ensure that maximum benefits are received.
- Assists with other Funding and Quality Assurance activities as needed.
- Verifies benefit information including Social Security and SNAP benefits. Follows up with MSCs and/or families regarding applications for the benefits that are required for Residential Program. Ensures that benefits applications are completed and ensures benefits have been received.
- Completes admissions paperwork, including Social Security Rep‑Payee Application, and SNAP Authorized Representative Card Application and forwards to appropriate agency.
- Participates in staff meetings, in‑service training, and supervisions.
- Provides information as needed to assist with new residential projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6 months of relevant experience OR Associate’s Degree with one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of developmental disabilities and community based services for the population.
- Significant knowledge and experience with assisting and securing benefits for individuals in a residential setting preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- The ability to read and write case notes as well as understand written directions.
- The ability to organize, plan and manage caseload with flexibility, dependability, discretion, and independent judgment.
- Exercising independent judgment, concentrating, thinking, communicating, interacting with others, managing multiple tasks and coping with stressful situations and deadlines.
