What You’ll Do as a Nurse II
  • Plan, provide, and supervise nursing interventions for individuals with cancer and cancer‑related health conditions.
  • Diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems through patient care, health teaching, and health counseling.
  • Deliver interventions that support or restore life and overall well‑being.
  • Execute medical regimens prescribed by physicians, dentists, or other licensed healthcare providers as authorized under State Education Commissioner regulations.
  • Supervise Nurse I staff, Licensed Practical Nurses, Hospital Clinical Assistants, and Clinical Support Assistants.
  • Perform administrative tasks within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Promote professional growth through participation in educational programs, review of current literature, and attendance at in‑service meetings and workshops.
Compensation

The starting rate of pay for this position is $47.58 per hour. For the night shift, an additional differential of $6.50 per hour is provided. The listed pay rate reflects the potential compensation for this role, and the actual offer may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.

Qualifications

License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year of full‑time oncology nursing experience; or
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year of full‑time critical care experience; or
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and two years of full‑time medical‑surgical experience in an acute care setting; or
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, one year of full‑time medical‑surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three months (full‑time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park.

Additional Notes

  • Incumbents will serve a one‑year full‑time probationary period as a Nurse II.
  • Degrees must be conferred by an accredited institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated.
