Job Description
The Assistant Manager Nursing Unit is licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in a managerial position who participates in the planning, organizing, directing, and evaluation of the clinical and administrative functions on assigned unit(s). Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director and working collaboratively with administrative coordinators, this individual ensures the provision of quality patient care, manages staff and equipment/materials appropriately, fosters a cooperative relationship with physicians, and establishes and maintains good internal and external customer relationships.
The Assistant Manager assists the Nurse Manager with sharing responsibility for clinical operations, hiring and terminating staff, disciplining and counseling staff, approving payroll and time records, and sharing responsibility in quality improvement outcomes and activities of the unit(s) they manage. They are directly responsible for staff on a particular clinical unit(s), participate in the budget process, and manage day‑to‑day operations.

Education & CredentialsBachelor of Science in Nursing required. Registered Nurse upon hire required.
Experience2 years of experience in a clinical setting required. 1 year of experience in clinical leadership preferred. 1 year of experience in the specific clinical service line of the assigned department preferred.
