Overview
Buffalo Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Registered Nurse 2 – Community to provide, oversee, and coordinate nursing and health‑related care services for individuals with mental illness in a community setting. Candidates may be from outside the state or within the State Service.
Responsibilities- Directly provide nursing and health‑related care to a caseload of individuals in community settings such as Family Care Program, Mobile Integration Team, and outpatient clinic.
- Perform clinical case management activities.
- Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Provide nursing‑specific clinical, consultative, and instructional assistance to individuals, families, other disciplines, and health‑care providers.
- License and current registration as a registered RN in New York State.
- One year of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.
- Graduating from a bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post‑licensure experience; a master’s degree may substitute for two years. Neither degree substitutes for the required one year of specialized community RN experience.
- Candidates from within State Service with one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law may be considered for transfer.

- NYS retirement programs.
- Background check will be required.
- Failure to maintain license/registration after appointment will result in removal from the position.
- Eligible employees cannot be listed on federal or state Medicaid or Medicare exclusion lists; subsequent listing may result in termination.
- Employees may be required to enroll as Medicare providers, obtain an NPI number, and participate to the degree necessary to qualify for billing. Loss of billing ability may result in termination.
