Responsibilities
The Department of Medicine, Division of Population Health is seeking a Biostatistician within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Responsibilities will include:
- Perform statistician and database programming in current languages such as R, Stata, Python and SQL
- Design, code, test, debug, modify, and document statistical coding from detailed instructions and specifications
- Identify relationships and trends in data, as well as any factors that could affect the results of research
- Perform the necessary statistical analyses in accordance with federal and private grants and contracts including the analysis of specific projects
- Develop software applications or programming to use for statistical modeling and graphic analysis
- Report results of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables
- Work collaboratively in the development of scientifically sound study and project designs
- Provide expertise in the development and maintenance of data management systems that optimize the efficiency of statistical analyses and reporting
- Provide consultation on complex statistical method, questionnaire construction, and data gathering techniques
- Assist faculty with special research projects including medical information requests and special studies, analyzing proposals for submission to ethics review boards (IRB)
- Develop large scale harmonized databases based on several large- scale national databases
- Assist in the writing of grants and scientific publications, providing expertise and scientific content regarding the study design and statistical techniques to be used
- Assist in the preparation of study results for manuscripts to medical journals and presentations at medical conferences
- Attend and participate in all assigned meetings
- Assist and work with trainees as assigned (new staff, summer students, medical students, etc)
