Research Technician I, Microbiology and Immunology

Position Summary

Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician I conducts routine experiments following established procedures and protocols. The experiments examine the role of the human microbiome in shaping bacterial pathogen behavior as they colonize and adapt to the host.

The technician designs and executes experiments, analyzes data, manages and collects clinical samples, assists with day‑to‑day laboratory operations including coordinating lab meetings, stocking supplies, ensuring lab safety, maintaining culture collections, recording test results, presenting work in oral and written formats, and monitoring animal colonies when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute routine experiments and analyze data.
  • Manage and collect clinical samples.
  • Assist in running day‑to‑day laboratory operations.
  • Coordinate lab meetings and maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Ensure laboratory safety and adhere to protocols.
  • Maintain and manage storage of culture collections.
  • Record test results and produce oral and written reports.
  • Monitor animal colonies when required.
  • Perform routine tasks to support research projects, including care and maintenance of apparatus and equipment, care of animals used in tests, observation and recording of results, assembling and labeling materials, and taking inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field.
