Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Retail & Store Manager, Butcher
At Wegmans, our meat department houses all the essential meat products that our customers need. In the role of Meat Coordinator, you’ll work with a team to ensure the best and freshest meat items are in stock, displayed creatively, and available for customers. Whatwill I do?
- Possess an understanding of the products offered in the department
- Maintain the overall appearance of the department, ensure fresh product and levels are sustained, items are well-merchandised in innovative, eye-appealing displays and stocked in correct locations, while recognizing seasonal, holiday and weather effects on product sales
- Proactively approach customers, assist them in locating products throughout the department, provide suggestions for meal solutions, and answer any questions they may have about products
- Understand how products look/taste at peak of perfection, ensure use core recipes and techniques to provide a consistent and quality outcome
- Assist in ordering and inventory processes, utilizing ordering guides to help control inventory and shrink
- Customer service experience
- Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques
- Experience working in a butcher shop
- Managerial/supervisory experience
- Experience with or knowledge of different cuts of meat and poultry

Work Environment:
The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, reaching, including lifting above shoulder height, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 15 – 40 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of greater than 50 pounds occasionally.
You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. Upper extremity repetition is moderate and trunk movement involves moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).The work environment is indoors with exposure to cold (33 – 55 degrees) temperatures. Basic tools and equipment used include box cutter, u-cart, utility cart, tall multi-shelf cart, hand/power jack, scale, meat knives, grinder, and band saw.;
Collective customer service experience, internally and/or externally preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting;
Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques;
Experience working in a butcher shop;
Managerial/supervisory experience living our values and achieving results in our 5 measures
