Job Description

This Inside Sales Representative role focuses on supporting established business-to-business contractor clients within the HVAC sector. You will handle a high volume of inbound calls and emails, process quotes and orders, and ensure accurate documentation for shipping. The position is centred on maintaining and deepening existing customer relationships, providing technical product guidance, and identifying opportunities to offer enhanced solutions, rather than cold calling or prospecting for new clients.

Responsibilities

+ Handle incoming calls from contractors, with the majority of interactions coming from established business-to-business clients.

+ Respond promptly and professionally to emails and phone enquiries, typically working across at least two computer screens to manage multiple tasks.

+ Process quotes and orders accurately, ensuring all relevant information is captured and recorded in the appropriate systems.

+ Prepare and manage paperwork required for shipping, ensuring orders are dispatched correctly and on time.

+ Maintain and nurture existing client relationships by providing reliable support and consistent, high-quality service.

+ Offer product recommendations based on customer requirements, such as advising on appropriate boiler size and specification for a given property.

+ Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell suitable products, for example suggesting higher-efficiency or two-stage units when appropriate.

+ Use general sales skills to guide customers through options, pricing, and benefits, helping them make informed purchasing decisions.

+ Apply HVAC knowledge and mechanical aptitude to interpret customer needs and match them with the correct products and solutions.

+ Utilise basic computer skills, including Outlook, to answer emails, copy and paste information, and create and send attachments.

+ Collaborate closely with the outside sales team, providing inside sales support and ensuring a seamless service to contractors.

+ Participate in ongoing product and technical training sessions, such as weekly briefings on components like TXVs and AC coils, to continually build knowledge.

+ Contribute positively to a team-oriented environment, supporting colleagues and sharing information to improve overall performance.

+ Manage daily workload effectively, prioritising tasks and maintaining attention to detail while handling multiple enquiries.

Essential Skills

+ Proven general sales experience, with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with business customers.

+ Prior HVAC knowledge and experience, or strong mechanical aptitude, enabling effective understanding of heating and cooling products.

+ Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with email systems such as Outlook for responding to enquiries, copy-pasting information, and managing attachments.

+ Ability to multitask efficiently, working across multiple screens and handling calls, emails, and order processing simultaneously.

+ Strong customer service skills, with a focus on building and maintaining long-term business relationships.

+ Attention to detail in processing quotes, orders, and shipping paperwork to ensure accuracy and reliability.

+ Willingness to learn and take part in regular training sessions to deepen technical product knowledge.

Experience with in the HVAC industry is highly advantageous and will support faster integration into the role.

+ Mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how HVAC components and systems work.

+ Openness to starting in a warehouse or operational environment to gain hands-on product knowledge before moving into sales.

+ Comfort working in a business-to-business setting with contractor clients.

+ Ability to work effectively as part of a sales team that includes both inside and outside sales professionals.
