Overview
The Security Supervisor provides on‑the‑job work direction to assigned personnel in addition to supervisory assignments. All duties are carried out within the guidelines of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies, procedures, internal control standards, and objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all Security Ambassador, Security Officer, and Security Supervisor roles, and coach, encourage, and oversee team members.
- Respond to, mitigate, and de‑escalate incidents requiring Security intervention (e.g., intoxicated guests, domestic disputes, assaults, larcenies, harassment, medical situations, critical incidents).
- Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor that inspires subordinates and fosters a positive work environment.
- Develop, mentor, and train enrolled Seneca Nation members for future career paths within the company.
- Approve and submit all activity and incident reports, logs, and other documentation generated by Security personnel.
- Maintain accurate inventories of all equipment and keys used by the Security Department, ensuring key‑control policies are followed.
- Complete CPR/First Aid training and any other courses required by the Director of Security or above.
- Assist in internal or external investigations conducted by the Seneca Gaming Corporation, SGA, or authorized local authorities.
- Complete required post‑accident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as per department guidelines.
- Act as supervisor to regular Security personnel, including assignment and scheduling of duties, tracking attendance, providing additional Security as needed, ensuring paperwork completion, reporting breaches, enforcing policies, and issuing disciplinary action.
- Maintain the chain of command and keep subordinates informed of all relevant information while informing the supervisor of developments.
- Assist Security Ambassadors or Officers in their duties, acting in those positions when necessary.
- Build, instill, and maintain a fair and equitable work environment for all team members.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency plans and protocols (e.g., Emergency Response Plan, Business Continuity Plan) and notify the Operations Manager when appropriate.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding internal functions of the Security Department and other confidential information.
- Assist with hiring duties for the Security Department when required.
- Maintain current understanding of all information‑security policies and comply with them at all times.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies; attend all necessary training meetings.
- Complete all required SGC training programs within nine (9) months of employment commencement.
- Provide testimony in court when required.
- Duties and responsibilities are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by a 24‑hour schedule.
Education/Experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; preference for an associate’s degree or higher in criminal justice, justice studies, business management, or a related field.
- Six (6) months experience in a leadership position within a relevant field (Security, Hospitality, Law Enforcement, or Military).
- Ability to use approved software programs for Security duties (e.g., report‑writing software, dispatch software) and programs such as Word and Excel; understanding of legal ramifications and implications of various employee and customer actions.
Language Skills and Reasoning Ability
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Ability to interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
