The Electrical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across various facilities. This position requires a thorough understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and safety protocols to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently. The technician will collaborate closely with engineering teams and other technical staff to support ongoing projects and minimize downtime.
Attention to detail and adherence to regulatory standards are essential to maintain system reliability and safety. Ultimately, the Electrical Technician contributes to the seamless operation of electrical infrastructure, supporting organizational productivity and safety goals.
- Install, inspect, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures according to relevant codes and standards.
- Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes, and implement effective solutions.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to support system upgrades, modifications, and new installations.
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately and report any safety hazards or compliance issues promptly.
- High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an accredited electrical technician training program.
- Proven experience as an electrical technician or in a similar role involving electrical system maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC standards).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites within the United States.
- Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Certification such as Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Technician Certification.
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in both residential and commercial electrical systems.
