OverviewWe are seeking experienced Coax Splicers to support a Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network project in the Buffalo, NY area. This role focuses on maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting coaxial infrastructure within an active network environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Perform coaxial cable splicing, activation, and maintenance within HFC networks
- Troubleshoot signal issues using meters and diagnostic tools (SNR, RF levels, ingress/egress)
- Read and interpret system prints, maps, and schematics
- Perform node splits, balancing, and system optimization
- Test and verify signal quality to ensure network performance standards are met
- Work in both aerial and underground environments, including bucket trucks and confined spaces
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and network updates
- Adhere to all safety standards and project procedures
- All other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 2 years of coax splicing experience within HFC networks is ideal
- Strong understanding of RF theory and DOCSIS systems
- Experience using signal level meters (VIAVI, Trilithic, or equivalent)
- Ability to read and interpret network design prints and maps
- Experience working in aerial and/or underground construction environments
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
- Experience supporting MSO networks (e.g., major cable providers)
- Prior fibre experience, including node work or basic fibre handling
- Bucket truck certification
Field-based role within the Buffalo, NY market. Combination of independent and team-based work. Overtime may be available based on project needs.
