Job Summary

The HVAC Technician II shall be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, apparatus, and electrical components of machinery, equipment, and the site by following electrical codes, manuals, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. All duties are performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, test, dismantle, and repair all types of heating, ventilating, air‑conditioning, and related equipment, including refrigeration compressors, pumps, condensers, air handling units, cooling towers, and associated controls, wiring, and piping.
  • Locate the source of trouble in HVAC equipment through testing and inspecting for mechanical or electrical failure; dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts, piping, and control wiring. Reassemble, test, and adjust equipment to obtain proper operating characteristics, and clean and secure equipment for optimum operation.
  • Make necessary mechanical repairs, perform required mechanical tests, and change filters on schedule or as required. Fabricate parts as needed using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
  • Receive drawings, diagrams, specifications, and instructions covering schedules and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work. Inspect and test all HVAC and related equipment to determine extent of damage and nature of repairs required. Analyze all types of drawings, wiring, and pneumatic schematics to determine material or replacement needs, assembly specifications, and methods.
  • Plan details of working procedures and determine tools and materials required. Select a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair problems. Answer trouble calls.
  • Consider all safety precautions and plan work to minimize interference with operations. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, HVAC principles, and operation of equipment.
  • Maintain performance and maintenance records of HVAC equipment.
  • Utilize test equipment including voltmeters, dies, pressure gauges, and gases.
  • Perform all levels of preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building equipment as required.
  • Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
  • Attend all necessary meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalency required.
  • Must possess and retain an ARI Certification for HVAC Technician – Type:
    Universal.
  • Candidate must have seven (7) years of previous hands‑on HVAC experience. Knowledge and experience in commercial HVAC applications required.
  • Must be well versed in the interpretation and implementation of the National Electrical Code, the New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, National Fire Prevention Association, and Occupational Safety and Health Association; a plus.
    • HVAC: working knowledge of HVAC is essential, specifically air‑cooled units and knowledge of airflow. Thorough understanding of controls, chillers, boilers, air filtration, refrigeration, pumps, cooling towers, pipe fitting, and sheet metal installation and repairs.
    • Electrical: in‑depth experience in commercial/industrial systems, 480/208V 3‑Ph. systems; 3‑Ph motor wiring, motor and electrical control systems, and conduit runs.
    • Plumbing: proficient in copper, PVC, and T&C piping; must know how to run pipe and use the tools necessary. Copper sweating proficiency expected.
  • Able to read, interpret and implement the intent of architectural, engineering, and design drawings in all phases of building construction.
