Facilities Maintenance Technician Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment, building systems, and infrastructure within an industrial environment. This role ensures the building remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained by handling a wide range of tasks, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repairs. The technician responds promptly to maintenance requests, coordinates with external contractors when needed, and maintains accurate documentation of all maintenance activities.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment, building systems, and infrastructure to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Carry out general upkeep of the building, including hanging drywall, changing light fixtures, repairing floors, completing masonry repairs, and fixing ceilings.
- Troubleshoot and perform light repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to keep operations running smoothly.
- Remove snow during winter months to maintain safe and accessible walkways and facility entrances.
- Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate and communicate with external contractors for specialized repairs, upgrades, or larger projects as needed.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
- Ensure safety standards, building codes, and facility integrity are upheld at all times during maintenance activities.
- Use and care for tools and equipment properly, utilizing both company‐provided tools and personal hand tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical documents to diagnose issues and perform accurate repairs.
- Minimum of 5 years of building or facilities maintenance experience.
- Hands‑on experience with general facilities maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in electrical repairs, including troubleshooting and replacing light fixtures and related components.
- Experience with plumbing repairs, including diagnosing and fixing leaks, clogs, and basic piping issues.
- Ability to perform light carpentry, including drywall hanging, patching, and general structural repairs.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, including basic troubleshooting and light repair work.
- Experience with masonry repairs, including patching and maintaining floors and walls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to facility standards and procedures.
- Ability to respond promptly to maintenance requests and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Skills & Qualifications
- Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience.
- Additional certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems (preferred).
- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with external contractors.
- Strong documentation skills for recording maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Ownership of basic personal hand tools to supplement company‑provided tools.

This role operates in a non‑climate‑controlled but well‑ventilated industrial facility. The standard shift is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work involves hands‑on tasks across the facility, using a mix of company‑provided tools and personal hand tools. The environment requires comfort working in varying temperatures and around industrial equipment while maintaining a strong focus on safety and cleanliness.

PayThe pay range for this position is $24.00 – $30.00 per hour.
