About the RoleAs an Embedded Engineer, you will have an amazing opportunity to shape the way we develop our IoT embedded solutions. You are a technical engineer and self-starter who can design, execute and test new telematics and connectivity features on Linux, Android, or real-time operating systems.
This role will help build the next-generation embedded solutions for Motive. You will design and develop modular software features in a collaborative, agile environment. This role offers career advancement and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology.
We are looking for a motivated and driven self-starter to further our solutions on embedded platforms.
What You’ll Do- Design and development of high-performance firmware and software for cutting-edge embedded platforms
- Debug, optimize, and validate firmware on complex embedded multi-core architectures
- Develop automated and unit-level functional testing to validate features
- Engage with a cross-disciplinary team to design, develop and test features up the stack
- 5+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Strong programming experience and proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including algorithms, complex data structures, and highly optimized code
- Consumer electronics experience or familiarity with 2-3 relevant technologies: multi-core ARM processors, WiFi/BT, IoT
- Familiarity with ARM or equivalent embedded multi-core microprocessor architectures
- Strong understanding of operating systems concepts such as thread scheduling, context switching and memory management
- RTOS, Linux or Android OS with ARM
- Electrical bus communication such as UART, CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, etc.
San Francisco and Buffalo. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of being in the office 1–2 days per week.

Pay TransparencyYour compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. Motive offers benefits including health, pharmacy, optical and dental care, paid time off, sick time off, short term and long term disability coverage, life insurance and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside.
For this role, the on-target earnings (base pay + commissions) are:
United States $119,000 — $164,000 USD.
