Position Summary
Senior Software Engineer – Mainframe (Cobol, CICS, JCL, VSAM)
Location:
1 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY 14203. Requires in‑office work four days per week.
- Own end‑to‑end responsibility for enhancement, maintenance, and production support of mainframe applications using Cobol, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and related IBM tools.
- Deploy mainframe source code and components to production via automated pipelines, following Dev Ops standards and best practices.
- Complete and oversee systems analysis, design, and development from technical analysis to user acceptance testing.
- Lead and coordinate development tasks on projects of small to large scope, mentoring less experienced resources.
- Prepare and manage technical components of project plans, including test data, detailed test plans, and debugging.
- Evaluate complex interrelationships among programs, interfacing applications, and platforms; provide analytical consultation to business units.
- Prepare and update technical and functional specifications, documentation, charts, tables, and diagrams.
- Maintain efficient operation of supported applications, follow code development standards, and adhere to company risk and regulatory policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Programmer, Technical Leader, or related occupation.
- Five (5) years of experience with software development using COBOL, CICS, JCL and VSAM.
- Two (2) years of experience in Dev Ops on mainframe IDZ.
