Technology Internship Program

Overview

Works under direction of a mentor to complete technology‑related projects and assignments for a specified and established length of time. This internship will close on Friday, 7/24/2026.

• Support project‑based activities aligned to software development, technical engineering, cybersecurity or data engineering.
• Projects will have measurable objectives and clear outcomes.
• Depending on the area supported, perform basic programming and testing or draft plans and scripts of a technical nature.
• Understand and adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the company’s risk appetite.
• Identify risk‑related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

The internship holder works under immediate supervision and the position is for an established time period.

• Currently pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development or a related STEM field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Work visa sponsorship not offered for this role.

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
• Knowledge of Java, SQL, Python, C# or similar programming languages with some practical application.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills.
• Exposure to Agile methodology.
• Proven innovative and creativity skills.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Focus on continual learning.
• Proven collaborative, team‑focused, analytical and problem‑solving skills.

$18.00 ‑ $28.00 per hour. The specific compensation will be determined based on your combination of knowledge, skills and experience. The range is applicable nationwide.
