The Logistics Automation Software Engineer develops, supports, and enhances software solutions used in Sonwil’s automated warehousing and distribution operations. This role supports Four Square, Sonwil’s pilot automated logistics facility, where autonomous devices operate in a live production environment under software control
The position is responsible for software development and operational support related to warehouse automation, device control, system integration, and operational technology. Success in this role requires strong technical capability, sound judgment, and the ability to support software systems that directly affect live warehouse operation
Duties and responsibilities- Develop, test, implement, and troubleshoot software solutions for automated warehouse and logistics systems
- Maintain and enhance pathing, control management, and device coordination software used to direct autonomous equipment within the facility
- Develop, enhance, and support desktop, mobile, service-based, and iOS applications using applicable development tools and frameworks, including .NET technologies
- Support on-board device computing, sensor platforms, and related operational technology to promote reliable system performance
- Design, develop, and maintain relational and transactional database solutions across enterprise systems to support application development and system integration
- Collaborate with development team members, operations leaders, and other stakeholders to understand system needs, resolve issues, and improve automated logistics process
- Document system changes, troubleshooting steps, and support activities in accordance with established practices
- Follow established safety, security, and change management practices when supporting software and technology used in a live operating environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- Minimum of five years of relevant software development, systems support, or automation-related experience required
- Proficiency with ASP.NET, , Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, and related Microsoft development tools required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment required
- Experience with pathing and control logic preferred
- Knowledge of CODESYS development preferred
- Experience developing and supporting software services preferred
- Work is performed in both an office environment and a live warehouse operating environment
- Must follow all applicable safety procedures when working in or supporting activity within the operating environment. Safety training will be provided
