Job Summary
The Transload Operator is responsible for safely transferring bulk materials between railcars, tanker trucks, and storage using pumps, hoses, and heavy equipment. Operators perform equipment operation, material handling, and general site support to ensure efficient, compliant daily operations. This role requires working both independently and as part of a team in an outdoor rail terminal environment under varying weather conditions. The Buffalo Transload Terminal (TBT) includes a truck wash, bonded track, warehouse space, and laydown storage, supporting a wide range of transloading activities across multiple product types.

Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, occasional weekends. Pay: $21.00 per hour. Terminal address: 50 Bison Pkwy, Buffalo, NY 14227. Location information:

- Obtain qualifications and demonstrate competencies in the equipment type to be operated.
- Transfer bulk materials and other cargo between trucks, railcars, vessels, barges, and storage areas in accordance with proper procedures and safety standards.
- Conduct equipment inspections before and after use; report or address any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to leadership and the safety team.
- Participate in daily safety and job briefings, maintaining a strong focus on safety, environmental protection, and teamwork.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks efficiently and meet operational schedules.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area (including the cab of equipment and surrounding area).
- Be comfortable working at and being exposed to heights.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.
- Work a flexible schedule, including day and night shifts, with availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating equipment (strong preference).
- Show competency level and understanding of the equipment type through classroom and field evaluation with satisfactory marks.
- Familiarity with various cargo types and understanding of associated hazards related to equipment, cargo, and pedestrian safety.
- Valid driver’s license.
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
