KL&A is a Rocky Mountain-based engineering and construction firm that provides a rare opportunity for engineers to work side-by-side with construction professionals, delivering economical, integrated projects for our clients and owners.
We’re looking for engineering students who want to take their learning beyond the classroom and into the real world. As an intern at KL&A, you’ll work on active projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, and gain firsthand insight into how engineering and construction come together to bring projects to life.
If you’re curious, driven, and excited to keep learning, we’d love to meet you.
What You Can ExpectYour internship will give you the opportunity to:
- Work on active engineering projects in a professional setting.
- Apply what you're learning in school to real-world challenges.
- Collaborate with engineers and construction professionals.
- Gain exposure to how projects move from design through construction.
- Build technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Learn from people who are invested in helping you grow.
Required Qualifications
- Registered EIT or actively pursuing EIT license.
- Commitment to quality and focus on continued improvement.
- Passion for design, engineering, and problem solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and work in Revit to produce contract documents.
- Dedication to client-centered service and technical excellence.
- Ability to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship.
- Experience with Revit Structures or another 3D modeling software.
- Experience with analysis software such as RAM, RISA, or ETABS.
We believe the best interns aren't the ones who already know everything, they're the ones who are eager to learn.
To be successful, you'll:
- Build trust with coworkers and clients by being dependable, collaborative, and authentic.
- Ask LOTS of questions. Curiosity is encouraged here.
- Embrace the learning curve. Your internship is the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and growth.
- Work as a team. Great projects and great engineering happen through collaboration.
- Be proactive, not reactive. Look for opportunities to contribute and take ownership of your work.
- Speak up when you don't understand or "get it." We want you to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and learn from the people around you.
- Bring a sense of humor and don't take yourself too seriously.
