Position OverviewThe Bakery & Deli Service Clerk is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the bakery and deli departments by preparing, packaging, pricing, and merchandising products while maintaining department cleanliness, food safety standards, and excellent customer service.
The Bakery & Deli Service Clerk reports to the Bakery & Deli Department Manager and works as part of the service department team to ensure high-quality bakery and deli products are properly prepared, displayed, and available to customers.
Key Responsibilities Product Preparation & Food Handling- Prepare, package, weigh, and label bakery and deli products according to department standards.
- Assist with slicing, cooking, assembling, or preparing products as directed by department leadership.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and temperature control practices are followed.
- Maintain product freshness and rotate items according to department standards.
- Stock and maintain bakery and deli service cases, displays, and shelves throughout the workday.
- Ensure displays remain clean, organized, and visually appealing to customers.
- Assist with merchandising displays, seasonal features, and promotional programs.
- Provide friendly and knowledgeable service to customers in the bakery and deli departments.
- Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and preparation questions.
- Maintain product knowledge including ingredients, preparation methods, and serving suggestions.
- Maintain department cleanliness and sanitation according to company and regulatory standards.
- Clean preparation areas, service cases, equipment, and utensils regularly.
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the bakery and deli departments when assigned.
- Support department operations and assist coworkers as needed during daily operations.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines outlined in the Lynn’s Inc. & Affiliates Primary Policy Manual.
- Comply with applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Follow company safety and security policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of company operational information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by department or store leadership.
- Retail, bakery, deli, or food service experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail food service environment.
- Strong attention to product quality, sanitation, and presentation.
- Ability to provide friendly and helpful customer service.
- Ability to safely operate deli and bakery equipment as trained.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
