The Asphalt Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Breakdown Rollers, Rubber Tire Rollers, and Finish Rollers. The Asphalt Roller Operator is a full-time, seasonal position that requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the Foreman, and has no supervisory responsibility.
Primary Responsibilities- Ensure equipment preventative maintenance is always performed timely, thoroughly, and correctly.
- Consistently keep equipment clean and organized to promote professionalism, safety, and efficiency.
- Make safety the main priority while working on equipment.
- Additional duties as assigned by management, as this job description is non-exhaustive.
- Distribute, break down, compress, and give a finished surface to cooling asphalt.
- Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
- Three to five years of experience operating Asphalt Breakdown Rollers, Rubber Tire Rollers, Asphalt Finish Rollers, and within the road construction industry.
- Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.
- A positive attitude is critical to ensure productive working relationships with co-workers and management.
- Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, dusty conditions, and working outdoors.
- Overnight travel is not standard but may be required as site location move
- Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal.
- Ability to reach below/at/above shoulders
- Pushing/Pulling/Twisting/Bending
- Operate hand and foot controls
- Simple/Firm grasping/Pinching
- Ability to lift/lower/carry over 50 pounds
- Squatting/Stooping/Crouching/Kneeling/Crawling
