Role Overview

They are seeking an Engineering Technician who is equally strong hands-on and on paper. This role is ideal for a dealership-trained technician (Ford, Mercedes-Benz, or similar OEM background) who has strong technical fundamentals and the ability to clearly document processes, procedures, and standards in a structured engineering environment.

You will work directly with vehicles while also producing clear, professional SOPs and work instructions that enable repeatable, high-quality builds across the organization.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on technical work related to vehicle assembly, modification, diagnostics, and validation
  • Read, interpret, and execute work from service manuals, engineering documentation, and work instructions
  • Author, edit, and maintain SOPs and detailed work instructions used by production and engineering teams
  • Translate engineering intent into clear, step-by-step documentation
  • Maintain organized, version-controlled documentation within a Microsoft 365 environment
  • Support prototype builds, first-article processes, and engineering changes
  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, or ambiguity and proactively improve them
  • Serve as a technical and documentation bridge between engineering and the shop floor
Required Qualifications
  • 1–5 years of automotive technician experience, preferably in OEM dealership environments (Ford, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, etc.)
  • Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to clearly document complex procedures
  • High confidence using Microsoft 365, including:
    • Word (technical documentation, SOP formatting)
    • Excel (tables, checklists, basic data organization)
    • PowerPoint (process overviews, training materials)
    • Teams (communication, file collaboration)
  • Highly organized with a disciplined, process-driven workflow
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
  • OEM or ASE certifications
  • Prior experience writing or maintaining: SOPs, work instructions, build or quality checklists
  • Experience working alongside engineering teams or in low-volume manufacturing
  • Familiarity with version control, document revisions, or formal change processes
What This Role Is (and Is Not)
  • This role is:
Hands-on and documentation-heavy; structured, methodical, and process-driven; focused on building things correctly and repeatably
  • This role is not:
Flat-rate dealership wrenching; an unstructured or ad-hoc shop environment
