The Tax Director is the highest tax leader in the firm and a newly created role, historically handled by the Owner. This individual will build, formalize, and fully own the tax function so the Owner can step out of day‑to‑day tax execution and focus on scaling the business. The Tax Director will serve as the tax principal and final sign‑off authority while leading an independent Tax Division that supports the firm’s CFO Advisory arm.

In close partnership with the CFO Advisory Director, the Tax Director will ensure tax readiness during client closeouts and uphold the technical integrity of all tax matters. The role is designed as a true player‑coach position, balancing leadership and hands‑on execution. You will mentor and support the Tax Manager, review work, and provide clear technical direction while personally handling complex matters and stepping in where capacity demands.

Ultimately, the Tax Director will mature tax processes, implement structure where needed, and create a scalable foundation that supports the firm’s next phase of growth.

• Tax Principal & Final Sign-Off Authority:
  Own tax judgment calls, stand behind decisions, and keep deliverables moving
• Senior Technical Reviewer + Player/Coach Individual Contributor:
  Handle and/or review higher-complexity work as needed; ensure quality while prioritizing “timely, relevant, accurate”
• Client-Facing Tax Leader:
  Interface directly with clients on tax topics
• Mentor & Support Tax Manager:
  Provide direction, answer questions with authority, and help develop the tax department
• Internal Partner to CFO Advisory:
  Collaborate with the CFO Advisory Director/team to ensure tax-readiness, translate compliance into advisory value, and support tax questions that arise from CFO engagements
• Tax Process Builder + Practice Gatekeeper:
  Implement defined tax processes, improve consistency, and help standardize training and internal review rhythms as the firm grows

• CPA license required; 2+ years as a licensed CPA
• MBA is a plus
• Advisory mindset / managerial accounting orientation
• Self‑starter; thrives with limited framework
• Strong and direct communication
• Comfortable with boutique complexity + variety; can balance judgment with practicality
• Comfortable with the reality that every client engagement is unique, and reporting is tailored, even within the same industry
