Position: Personal Care Aide (PCA)

Provide hands‑on assistance with activities of daily living to elderly, disabled, and convalescing individuals in their homes. Work under RN supervision following individualized service plans.

Department Client Services

Reports To RN Supervisor / Administrator

FLSA Status Non‑Exempt (Hourly)

Location Client homes across Georgia

  • Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing
  • Help with feeding and ensuring adequate nutrition
  • Provide walking assistance and mobility support
  • Safely transfer clients between bed, chair, and wheelchair
  • Reposition bed‑bound clients to prevent pressure sores
Health Monitoring
  • Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse)
  • Monitor and report changes in client condition
  • Observe skin for redness, breakdown, or changes
  • Track fluid intake and output when required
Support Tasks
  • Prepare nutritious meals per dietary requirements
  • Perform light housekeeping essential to client health
  • Escort clients to appointments and activities
Qualifications Required
  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Pass GCHEXS fingerprint background check
  • Complete 40‑hour PCA training program
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred
  • Previous caregiving experience
  • CNA certification
  • Experience with elderly or disabled populations
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Extended standing and walking
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • Assist with client transfers
  • Fine motor skills for personal care tasks
Training Provided
  • 40‑hour PCA training program (20 hours before solo work)
  • Infection control and universal precautions
  • Safe transfer and ambulation techniques
  • Emergency response and first aid
  • Vital signs measurement
  • 12 hours annual continuing education
