Overview
The Event Manager is a key position responsible for detailing, servicing, and planning for weddings and group meetings in collaboration with key departments to achieve profitability and guest satisfaction. The successful candidate will be creative, a problem solver, a team player who is open to learning and leading by example, and who responds professionally and courteously to guests and team members.
The position includes managing group room blocks with a seamless turnover from sales.
- Create an atmosphere in all event management operation areas that meet or exceed guest expectations
- Set a positive example for guest relations
- Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
- Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints
- Strive to improve service performance
- Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings
- Understand the importance of raising the meeting planner evaluation scores and implement effective methods to ensure exceeding meeting planner satisfaction
- Participate in the re-booking of repeat business by maintaining long-term client relationships
- Comfortable with hotel site inspections and client presentations
- Provide excellent creative set-ups, menus, and functions for groups
- Demonstrate knowledge of Delphi / Amadeus / Salesforce; OPERA knowledge is a plus
- Monitor group room blocks and pick up for forecasting and contributing to overall guest room sales efficiency
- Generate detailed resumes for the operating departments
- Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events and groups
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis, including weekends and holidays
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and adapt communication style to different audiences
- Handle financial elements such as prepayment according to established procedures
- Work closely with Sales teams to build relationships with area businesses to support revenue goals
- Coordinate and communicate with third-party vendors on scope of work, delivery schedules, product installation, and teardowns
- Actively participate in department events such as Quarterly Showcase and Tasting events
- Demonstrate internal drive and dedication to guests and the organization by being engaged and productive
- Maintain a working knowledge of the marketplace and collaboratively build best practices for the resort's success
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail to coordinate with other departments and managers
- Availability to work when events are happening (weekends, nights, and holidays)
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to achieve goals
- Ability to thrive in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment

Education and/or Experience- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years experience as a Catering/Event Manager in a high-end catering environment
