MAKITA Corporation of America, a worldwide leading producer of high-quality power tools, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to become a part of our team!

Scope:

Manage the human resources and environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs of Makita Corporation of America (MCA). Make sure MCA complies with federal, state, and local employment, safety, and environmental laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of human resources strategies, policies, and programs to support organizational objectives and enhance workforce effectiveness.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, employee development, and separation processes to attract, retain, and develop qualified employees.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, such as ADA, FMLA, and FLSA regulations.
  • Foster positive employee relations by addressing workplace concerns, supporting conflict resolution, and providing guidance and support to management on HR-related matters.
  • Manage compensation, payroll, and employee benefits programs to ensure competitiveness, employee satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain HR information systems, employee records, and HR reports to ensure accurate workforce data and support informed business decisions.
  • Develop and promote training, leadership development, and compliance programs to strengthen organizational capabilities and employee growth.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for HR staff while coordinating HR initiatives and activities with Makita USA and Makita Japan.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Manage incident investigations, workers’ compensation activities, and corrective action processes to prevent recurrence and drive operational improvements.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Administer MCA holidays, and each year create and distribute the MCA calendar.
  • Manage employee benefit plans and open enrollment with the benefits broker and the 401(k)-plan administrator.
  • Coordinate employee events and employee recognition programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, occupational safety, or a related field. Professional HR certification combined with work experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • At least five (5) years of human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Environmental, health and safety (EHS) experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of federal and Georgia employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers’ compensation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, salaried, and hourly employees. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to clearly explain company policies and legal requirements to employees at all levels.
  • Ability to keep information confidential and to handle sensitive employee matters with good judgment.
  • Skill with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) and HR information systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Human resources management or supervisory experience.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training card.
  • Professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Experience working in a Japanese-owned company or with Japanese management.
