About the Role:

The Tooling Apprentice role is designed to provide hands‑on training and practical experience in the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools and tooling equipment used in manufacturing processes. This position aims to develop foundational skills in machining, metalworking, and tool assembly under the guidance of experienced tooling professionals. The apprentice will contribute to ensuring that production tools are precise, reliable, and maintained to the highest standards, directly impacting product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Over time, the apprentice will gain the technical knowledge and problem‑solving abilities necessary to support complex tooling projects and innovations. Ultimately, this role prepares the individual for a skilled tooling technician career by combining theoretical learning with real‑world application in a dynamic industrial environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of machine tool class completed.
  • On‑the‑job training available.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to punctuality and reliability.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of various machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and drills.
  • Disassemble and assemble dies following standard operating procedures.
  • Measure dies and die components using precision measuring instruments (micrometers and calipers).
  • Perform basic repairs to dies following repair check.
  • Ability to operate lift truck to move, load and/or unload die, die components and materials.
  • Works with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and any other departments to effectively manage and complete tasks and projects.
  • Read blueprints, use measuring tools and operate tool room equipment.
  • Ability to acquire a Forklift certification.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
