A growing product testing and certification laboratory in Buford, GA is seeking a UL Lab Technician to support UL and CSA testing programs for power tools, garden equipment, and related products. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands‑on testing, fixture building, troubleshooting, and working in a laboratory environment.

This role offers the opportunity to become certified through UL and CSA testing programs while working alongside experienced engineers, project leaders, and certification professionals.

Key Responsibilities Testing & Certification Support
  • Perform UL and CSA testing on power tools, garden equipment, and related products.
  • Execute test projects with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
  • Support research and development testing activities.
  • Assist project leaders with certification testing and compliance projects.
  • Participate in UL and CSA certification programs and regular compliance audits.
Fixture Building & Equipment Setup
  • Design, build, and modify test fixtures for product evaluation.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Support setup and execution of complex testing procedures.
Laboratory Operations
  • Manage and maintain test samples and project inventory.
  • Assist with warehouse storage and organization of active and completed projects.
  • Maintain accurate testing records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.
  • Alternative technical training through military service, trade school, or accredited technical programs will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical, laboratory, manufacturing, testing, electronics, or engineering environment.
  • Strong electro‑mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of electrical theory, electronic circuits, and troubleshooting fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, test procedures, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, Teams, and Windows‑based systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous UL or CSA testing experience.
  • Experience working with power tools, garden tools, or electromechanical products.
  • Familiarity with UL and CSA standards.
  • Experience building test fixtures or prototype assemblies.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and compliance requirements.

This position combines laboratory, warehouse, and office responsibilities. Candidates will work with:

  • Electrical and mechanical testing equipment
  • Digital multimeters and measuring devices
  • Calipers and inspection tools
  • Power tools and hand tools
  • Product test fixtures and laboratory equipment

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 65 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb stairs regularly.
  • Comfortable working with power tools, testing equipment, and laboratory materials.
  • Ability to work around occasional noise, chemicals, and industrial testing environments.
