Warehouse Assistant/Driver (Hourly – Non-exempt)

Reports to:

Store Manager

The Driver/Warehouse Assistant supports the Store Manager by performing tasks required for successful store operations. He/she is responsible for warehouse duties including stocking, facility neatness/cleanliness, and loading, delivering, and unloading product to customer sites and between store locations, as necessary. He/she may also assist the Counter Sales Associates and Store Managers in the day-to-day basic functions of the store.

• Proactively maintains store appearance and cleanliness.
• Responsible for organization and tidiness of store yard.
• Processes customer order requests, pulling stock from shelves and packaging; may assist in taking inventory.
• Presents a positive attitude to all customers, anticipates their needs, and provides solutions that guarantee their satisfaction; accepts returned stock and processes credit memos for warranty and/or unused items.
• Ensures company vehicles are properly maintained for safety and appearance; logs maintenance daily and reports concerns to the Store Manager immediately.
• Verifies, unloads, and delivers customer orders and intra-company transfers using company vehicles, according to company guidelines; ensures no product damage during delivery or loading/unloading; reports discrepancies immediately; records pickups and maintains daily records.
• Assists Store Manager as needed.

• Familiarity with the geographic area served by the store and knowledge of roadway conditions and driving routes to optimize delivery routes and adhere to scheduling commitments; able to read road maps or follow GPS instructions.
• Ability to multi-task and take direction.
• Polite, professional, and able to communicate effectively.
• Safety conscious at all times; current with mandatory safety training.
• Knowledge of irrigation and landscape products is a plus.
• Prior delivery experience is a plus.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid state driving license, medical DOT card, FMCSA registration and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass drug testing requirements.
• Ability to read and research parts in parts manuals and on internal business software systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Requires consistently lifting large and heavy boxes, bags, and pipe; repeatedly loading and unloading large boxes throughout shift.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. safely without assistance and push and pull up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment.
• Requires significant physical demands throughout entire work shift and tasks performed in all types of weather conditions.

Compensation: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
