Duties & Responsibilities
- HVAC service and installation in commercial and industrial settings
- Perform routine maintenance and warranty work to ensure efficient and safe operation of HVAC systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions and perform repairs
- Recharge refrigerant, check for leaks, and maintain refrigerant cycle in air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- Implement energy‑efficiency upgrades such as smart thermostats or duct sealing
- Explain maintenance procedures to customers and recommend system upgrades or replacements
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and service calls
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of documented HVAC operation, maintenance, and repair experience
- EPA 608 Certification
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to articulate deficiencies in detail and tact
- Proficiency with paperless data entry, document manipulation, and material tracking on multiple software platforms
- Comfortable using Windows operating system
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Pass pre‑employment background check and drug test
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques, electrical circuits, wiring, motor operation, and local electrical codes
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materials; perform basic math; diagnose and resolve problems
- Physical ability to operate machinery and equipment, including diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and HVAC equipment
- Capacity to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions; lift or carry up to 20 or 50 pounds as needed
Monday through Friday. Overtime is sometimes required. Typical Start Time: 7:30am. Typical End Time: 4:00pm.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position is largely physically active. Field technicians regularly push and pull heavy loads, climb, crouch, and maneuver around obstacles to service HVAC equipment.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a field environment. Must be able to withstand wide temperature variations as a portion of the work is outside. Equipment inside is often located in very neglected areas that don’t see routine housekeeping, so the areas can be soiled or greasy.
