About this roleHigh Plains Mechanical is hiring a full-time HVAC Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for residential and light-commercial customers across southeast Wyoming. You'll run service calls independently in the field, work directly with customers, and participate in an on-call rotation during peak heating and cooling seasons. We provide a company service vehicle, tool allowance, and paid certification support.
Keyresponsibilities
- Install, service, and repair HVAC/R systems such as furnaces, heat pumps, split systems, rooftop units, and refrigeration equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools, then determine and perform repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance: coil cleaning, filter changes, refrigerant checks, and system tune-ups
- Handle and recover refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers and prepare accurate service documentation
- Maintain the service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory and follow all safety protocols
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- EPA 608 certification (Type II or Universal)
- 2+ years of HVAC service experience, or completion of an accredited HVAC/R training program
- Working knowledge of heating, cooling, refrigeration, and electrical systems
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in tight or elevated spaces, and tolerate varied weather conditions
- Strong troubleshooting and customer-service skills
- NATE certification
- EPA Universal certification
- Light-commercial or refrigeration experience
- Ductwork and sheet-metal fabrication experience
- Familiarity with smart thermostats and building automation systems
- Competitive pay ($24-$34/hr) based on experience and certifications
